IN FLAMES To Headline Sweden's METALTOWN, ARVIKA Festivals
January 26, 2010Swedish metallers IN FLAMES have issued the following update:
"After the hugely successful Swedish headline shows in December last year, we are very proud to announce that IN FLAMES will be headlining Metaltown in Gothenburg (June 19) and the Arvika festival [in Arvika] (July 16).
"In December 2009 IN FLAMES did their biggest Swedish headline shows in their career and played in front of 19,000 people over three days/shows (Stockholm/Hovet, Gothenburg/Scandinavium, Malmö/Arena).
"When we booked the headline shows last year, we all said that they are to be the last shows for quite some time, especially back home in Sweden. But we had such an amazing time with all of you, our amazing fans, so when we got the question if we wanted to headline Metaltown and Arvika this summer, the decision was pretty easy. YES!!!
"We have played both festivals before and had a fantastic time on both of them so it is an understatement to say that we are looking forward to them, both, again."
Wearing a "Rehab Is For Quitters" shirt, IN FLAMES guitarist Jesper Strömblad — who checked himself into a rehabilitation clinic early last year in order to receive treatment for his alcohol addiction — rejoined the band on stage on December 11, 2009 at Hovet in Stockholm, Sweden for the last two songs of the group's set, "Take This Life" and "My Sweet Shadow". The band performed the tracks as a six-piece, with Strömblad's temporary replacement, Niclas Engelin from the Swedish band ENGEL, playing alongside Jesper.
The sold-out show was attended by 8,335 people, making it IN FLAMES' biggest headlining show ever.
The readers of Aftonbladet, the biggest newspaper in Sweden and Scandinavia, recently namedIN FLAMES' "Come Clarity" the best Swedish album of the past decade. The LP received 26 percent of all votes.
Released in February 2006, "Come Clarity" (Ferret) sold just under 24,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 58 on The Billboard 200 chart. This was more than double the first-week tally registered by the group's previous CD, "Soundtrack To Your Escape" (released in April 2004 via Nuclear Blast),which entered the chart at No. 145 (with sales of just under 11,000).
